Time

I have a little, tattered, blue slip of paper that I have carried with me for at least 40 years. On it are these words:

Time is too slow for those who wait;
Too swift for those who fear;
Too long for those who grieve;
Too short for those who rejoice;
But, for those who love,

Time is not.

(source unknown)

Time is, indeed, a mysterious dimension that can plague and bind us mortal beings. It rushes on when we are not prepared. It seems to come to a standstill when life is the most unbearable.

Have you ever experienced what I call a "time warp"?  That's when some special occasion requires much thought and preparation and anticipation, then, when it's over there is a sensation of disorientation.  Now what? Where am I? What am I supposed to be doing? What is important?

Then, there are those times when you feel powerless and out of control, as though riding an inflatable raft through the rapids of the Colorado River...just hanging on for dear life, waiting, hoping to see how it will end.

In my determination to make Time my ally, rather than an enemy, I have come to several conclusions:

God is love.
I love God.
God is eternal.
I want to live with Him, eternally.

"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:21)
